# Oboz Footwear > Oboz Footwear is a Bozeman, Montana-based outdoor footwear brand founded in 2007. The name "Oboz" is derived from "Outside + Bozeman." The brand designs performance hiking boots and shoes for men and women, guided by the principle of being "True to the Trail." Oboz is a certified B Corp and plants trees with every pair of footwear sold, in partnership with Trees for the Future. Oboz was founded in 2007 by John Connelly and is headquartered at 201 South Wallace, Suite A-1, Bozeman, MT 59715. In 2018, the company was acquired by KMD Brands (New Zealand). The brand is inspired by the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and uses Montana's wilderness as a testing ground for its designs.
