### Book and Softcover Grading

- **Mint (M)**: Perfect. Brand new condition.
- **Near Mint (NM)**: Like new with only the slightest wear, many times indistinguishable from Mint. Close to perfect, very collectible.
- **Excellent (EX)**: Lightly used but almost like new. May show very small spine creases or slight corner wear. Absolutely no tears and no marks. A collectible condition.
- **Very Good (VG)**: Used. May have medium-sized creases, corner dings, minor tears or scuff marks, small stains. Complete and very useable.
- **Good (G)**: Very well used but complete and useable. May have flaws such as tears, pen marks or highlighting, large creases, stains, marks.

### Boxed Game Grading

Boxed items are listed as "code/code" where the first code represents the box and the second code describes the contents. When only one condition is listed, the box and contents are in the same condition.

Example: "EX/VG" means the box is in Excellent condition, the contents are in Very Good condition.

A "+" sign indicates an item is close to the next highest condition (e.g., EX+ is between Excellent and Near Mint).
A "-" sign indicates the opposite.

### Special Conditions

- **Shrink Wrapped (SW)**: Still in the original factory shrink wrap, with condition of contents visible through shrink noted. Example: "SW (NM)" means shrink wrapped in near-mint condition.
- **Remainder Mark**: A small black line or dot written with a felt tip pen or Sharpie on the top, bottom, or side page edges, or on the UPC symbol. Publishers use these marks when books are returned to them.
- **Tray Worn**: Applied to SPI flat trays that show the usual wear associated with that format.

### Grading Standards

- If Noble Knight is unsure whether an item makes a grade, it does not receive that grade — it is assigned the lower grade.
- After grading, items are individually bagged so the condition listed is the condition that arrives.
