# CleanBrowsing

> CleanBrowsing is a DNS-based content filtering service that protects families, schools, libraries, businesses, and organizations from harmful and unwanted online content. It works at the network level by filtering DNS requests — no software installation required. Founded by Daniel Cid and Tony Perez, CleanBrowsing processes over 355 billion DNS requests per month across 70+ global data centers serving 4.5+ million devices.

## Overview

CleanBrowsing provides cloud-based DNS filtering that blocks access to unwanted websites through DNS resolution. It offers both free public DNS resolvers and paid plans with granular controls. The service supports encrypted DNS (DoH, DoT, DNSCrypt) and uses an anycast network architecture for performance and reliability.

### Free DNS Resolvers

- **Family Filter:** `185.228.168.168` / `185.228.169.168` — Blocks adult content, enforces SafeSearch, blocks VPNs and proxies
- **Adult Filter:** `185.228.168.10` / `185.228.169.11` — Blocks adult content and malware
- **Security Filter:** `185.228.168.9` / `185.228.169.9` — Blocks malware, phishing, and botnets only

### Paid Plans

- **Basic ($8.99/mo):** Up to 25 devices, 3 profiles, 26+ filtering categories
- **Pro 50 ($15/mo):** Up to 50 devices, 5 profiles, ideal for schools and libraries
- **Pro 100 ($30/mo):** Up to 100 devices, 10 profiles, API access, for organizations
- **Custom:** 100+ devices, dedicated IPs, custom networks — contact sales
