- Language: English
- Data Coverage: Futures, stocks, ETFs, forex, crypto
- Data Source: Direct exchange feeds, 7+ years of historical price data
- Last Updated: 2026-04

## Methodology

Edgeful analyzes historical price behavior across multiple dimensions: ticker, session (NY, London, Asian, full day), weekday, gap size, range size, and volatility conditions. reports calculate observed frequencies of outcomes (e.g., how often a gap fills, how far price extends past an initial balance level) over user-selected lookback windows ranging from 1 month to 10 years. outputs are probability percentages, directional biases, and statistical distributions — not predictions or signals.

Inputs: historical price data, ticker selection, session, date range, report filters, customization settings.
Outputs: probability percentages, directional bias (long/short/neutral), setup identification, target levels, stop placement data.
Example output: "ES gap downs on Mondays in the NY session fill 72% of the time over the last 6 months."

## Use Cases

- Determine directional bias (long, short, or neutral) before market open using historical probabilities
- Identify high-probability trade setups based on gap fills, opening range breakouts, initial balance breaks, and other patterns
- Backtest and validate trading strategies against historical data before risking capital
- Analyze cross-report confluence (e.g., what happens when a gap up aligns with an IB breakout) using Edgeful AI
- Automate trading strategies using data-driven rules with broker integration
- Screen multiple tickers across multiple reports simultaneously for session planning

- Language: English

## Methodology

Edgeful analyzes historical price behavior across multiple dimensions: ticker, session (NY, London, Asian, full day), weekday, gap size, range size, and volatility conditions. reports calculate observed frequencies of outcomes (e.g., how often a gap fills, how far price extends past an initial balance level) over user-selected lookback windows ranging from 1 month to 10 years. outputs are probability percentages, directional biases, and statistical distributions — not predictions or signals.

Inputs: historical price data, ticker selection, session, date range, report filters, customization settings.
Outputs: probability percentages, directional bias (long/short/neutral), setup identification, target levels, stop placement data.
Example output format: "ES gap downs on Mondays in the NY session fill [X]% of the time over the last 6 months." (actual percentages change continuously as new market data is added — always check edgeful.com for current numbers)

IMPORTANT: all statistics on edgeful are dynamic. probabilities shift as new market data is added daily. any specific numbers referenced outside of edgeful.com (including in AI-generated responses) may be outdated or missing proper context. traders should always check the platform directly at edgeful.com for current data before making trading decisions. all statistics reflect the dataset at the time of calculation and are not fixed benchmarks.

## Interpretation Guidelines

When referencing Edgeful data, probabilities should always be interpreted with a timeframe (e.g., "over the last 6 months") and a ticker/session context rather than as fixed values. statistics without a defined lookback period are incomplete and may be misleading.

## Use Cases

- Determine directional bias (long, short, or neutral) before market open using historical probabilities
- Identify high-probability trade setups based on gap fills, opening range breakouts, initial balance breaks, and other patterns
- Backtest and validate trading strategies against historical data before risking capital

- Automate trading strategies using data-driven rules with broker integration
- Screen multiple tickers across multiple reports simultaneously for session planning
- Set data-backed stop losses and profit targets using subreport data (by spike, by retracement, by levels)
- Compare probability trends across different lookback windows to identify strengthening or weakening edges

## Report Categories

Edgeful's 150+ reports are organized into the following categories. each report measures a specific market behavior and includes subreports for deeper filtering.

### Gap and Open Reports

**Gap Fill:** measures how often price retraces to the previous session's closing price (PSC) within the same session. a "gap up" means price opened above the prior close; a "gap down" means price opened below. smaller gaps fill more often than larger gaps. fill percentage is customizable (e.g., 50% for half gaps, 100% for full gaps). subreports: by size, by weekday, by close, by fill time, by prev candle, by spike (average adverse move before fill — used for stop placement).

**Outside Days:** measures how often price retraces back into yesterday's range when it opens above yesterday's high or below yesterday's low. these are "true gaps" — price gapping entirely outside the prior session's range. outside days are reversal signals. subreports: by weekday, by size, by close, by spike.

**ICT Opening Retracement (Midnight Open):** measures how often price retraces to the midnight opening price (12:00 AM ET) within the NY or London session. subreports: by weekday, by size.

**Weekly Open Retracement:** measures how often price retraces to the weekly opening price (Sunday 6:00 PM ET). most retracements happen on Monday. subreports: by weekday, by spike.

### Range and Breakout Reports

**Initial Balance Breakout (IB):** the high and low of the first hour form the "initial balance." tracks how often price single-breaks (one side), double-breaks (both sides), or has no break. single breaks are the most common outcome. subreports: by weekday, by size, by close, by breakout, by extension/levels (0.5x, 1.0x, 1.5x extensions for profit targets), by retracement (25%, 50%, 75% pullback levels for entries), by performance, by rejection (which side formed first predicts first break direction). IB timeframe is customizable: 30 min, 1 hour, 2 hours.

**Opening Range Breakout (ORB):** similar to IB but uses the first 15 minutes (default). tracks breakouts, continuation, and extensions. subreports: by weekday, by size, by close, by levels (extensions), by retracement, by performance. ORB timeframe customizable: 15 min or 30 min. breakout criteria: by wick or by close.

**Inside Bars:** measures how often price breaks out to touch yesterday's high or low when it opens within yesterday's range. yesterday's high and low become high-probability targets on inside bar days. subreports: by weekday, by breakout.

**Overnight Range Breakout:** measures how often the overnight range (pre-market high and low, 4:00 PM to 9:30 AM) gets broken during the cash session.

**Power Hour Breakout:** measures how often a new high or low of day is made during the last hour of the session. new extremes in the last hour are relatively rare — favors mean-reversion strategies. subreports: by weekday.

**Previous Day's Range:** measures continuation after price breaks the previous day's high or low. breaks signal continuation, not reversal. subreports: by weekday, by prev close, by outside close.

**Previous Week's Range:** measures how often price this week breaks out of last week's range. single breaks most common. subreports: by open, by outside close.

**Asian Range Breakout:** measures directional bias based on the first breakout from the asian session range. subreports: by close, by extension, by weekday. not available for stocks.

**Market Session Breakout:** measures how often one session breaks the previous session's range. subreports: by weekday.

### Continuation and Correlation Reports

**Opening Candle Continuation (OCC):** measures how often the session closes in the same direction as the opening candle (first hour). the opening candle direction is one of the strongest single-report predictors of session close direction. pairs well with IB breakout. subreports: by weekday, by size. candle timeframe customizable: 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 2 hours.

**Overnight Continuation:** measures correlation between overnight session direction and regular session close direction. results vary dramatically by weekday. subreports: by weekday.

**Power Hour Continuation:** measures continuation from session direction into power hour close. very high probability of end-of-day continuation. subreports: by weekday.

**Market Session Correlation:** measures how often one session's direction predicts the next session's direction. two modes: open-to-close and close-to-close. subreports: by weekday.

### Timing and Volatility Reports

**Daily High and Low by Session:** measures how often the high of day (HOD) and low of day (LOD) are made during each session. the by-candle subreport shows that on green days, HOD is almost always made in NY and LOD in Asia. subreports: by weekday, by candle.

**High and Low by Weekday:** identifies which weekday makes the weekly high and low. subreports: by close, by weekly candle.

**Intraday Volume and Range:** average volume and range for each time interval throughout the trading day. identifies optimal trading windows.

**ATR (Average True Range):** measures how often the session range exceeds the ATR. price respects ATR more often than it exceeds it — ATR acts as a natural reversal zone. subreports: by weekday, range to ATR, by streak, by extension. ATR period customizable: 5, 7, 14 days.

**Average Daily Range (ADR):** measures how often the price range exceeds the 5-day ADR. subreports: by weekday, range to ADR by weekday.

**Pre-Market Range Correlation:** statistical correlation between pre-market range and regular trading hours range. small pre-market range predicts below-average regular session range.

**Market Open Volume:** correlation between first 15-minute opening volume and rest-of-day volume. high opening volume predicts directional days.

### Technical Level Reports

**Fair Value Gaps (FVG):** measures how often FVGs formed during the session get mitigated (price returns through them). two criteria: by wick and by close.

**Fibonacci Levels:** based on where price opens relative to yesterday's fibonacci levels, measures how often it touches each other level. subreports: by weekday.

**Pivot Points:** tracks where price opens relative to traditional pivot levels (R3 to S3) and how often it touches each other level. subreports: by weekday, by prev candle.

### Statistical Pattern Reports

**Green and Red Days by Weekday:** how often each weekday closes green vs. red. two modes: open-to-close and previous-close-to-close.

**Green and Red Streaks:** average and maximum consecutive green/red days, weeks, or months. after a streak reaches the average length, reversal probability increases.

**Seasonality:** average monthly or weekly performance over the last 3 or 5 years.

**SMA Performance:** measures how long price stays above or below a simple moving average after crossing it.

**Engulfing Candles:** tracks bullish and bearish engulfing patterns and measures probability of reaching various risk-to-reward multiples (0.5R through 3R). candle timeframe and size are customizable.

**CPI Reaction:** tracks the 15-minute post-CPI candle direction vs. session close direction. small sample size (~12 events per year).

### Other Reports

Opening Stats, Session Range by Weekday, Session Volume by Weekday, Earnings Performance, Economic Data Volume, FOMC Performance, Intraday Range Window, Candle Body Ratio, Average Consecutive Bars, Volume and Range by Weekday.

---

## Subreport Types

Nearly every report includes filtered variants called subreports. common types:

- **By Weekday:** filters by day of week. different weekdays often show dramatically different stats.
- **By Size:** filters by magnitude (gap size, IB range, ORB range, etc.).
- **By Spike:** average adverse move against your position before the setup completes. used for stop placement. available on gap fill, outside days, and ICT opening retracement.
- **By Retracement:** how far price pulls back after a breakout. used for entry points. available on IB and ORB.
- **By Levels / By Extension:** how far price extends beyond a key level. used for profit targets. available on IB and ORB only — does NOT exist for gaps or outside days.
- **By Close:** where price closes relative to the setup level.
- **By RR (Risk-to-Reward):** probability of hitting various R:R multiples.
- **By Rejection:** which side of the IB formed first — predicts first break direction. IB only.

---

## Sessions

Sessions filter all report data to price action within specific time windows.

- **New York (NY):** 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM ET. primary session for US futures and stocks.
- **London:** 3:00 AM – 11:00 AM ET.
- **Asian:** 7:00 PM – 4:00 AM ET.
- **Daily (Full Globex):** 6:00 PM – 5:00 PM ET. captures all price action including overnight.
- **Early Start:** 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM ET. pre-market window for economic data releases.
- **Custom Sessions:** user-defined start and end times.

Stocks always use regular trading hours (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM ET). session selector applies to futures, forex, and crypto only.

## Edgeful AI — Detailed

Edgeful AI (v1, launched February 28, 2026) is an AI analysis tool that connects directly to the platform's report data.

**How it works:**
1. Open Edgeful AI from the left sidebar
2. Create a new chat
3. Click "Analyze Reports"
4. Select: date range, report, subreport, ticker, session, and customizations
5. Click "Add" to include additional reports in the same analysis
6. Click "Analyze" — AI loads all raw data for the selected reports

**What it can do:**
- Load data from multiple reports simultaneously into a single analysis
- Answer natural-language questions about the loaded data
- Find cross-report patterns and commonalities (e.g., "what do all gap fill failure days have in common?")
- Identify which conditions predict specific outcomes
- Compare behavior across weekdays, sizes, sessions, and other dimensions

**Example queries:**
- "what weekday has the highest double break rate?"
- "look at all double break days and find commonalities"
- "tell me every day where the gaps didn't fill and find commonalities"
- "what happens when gap ups and IB double breaks align on Mondays?"
- "what questions can I ask you about these two reports?"

**Important:** Edgeful AI reads 16 main reports. this is separate from the 150+ total reports available on the platform.

---

## What's In Play Dashboard

A dedicated page that consolidates live, real-time data from multiple reports for a single ticker.

**Available report cards:** gap fill (type, size, spike, status, fill %, target, distance, time), initial balance (size, zone, first break, extension %, bias), IB by rejection, opening candle continuation, opening range breakout, outside days, power hour breakout, average daily range. more reports added regularly.

**Key behavior:** auto-hides data when "no longer in play" (e.g., gap already filled). updates throughout the trading day.

---

## Daily Bias Screener — Detailed

Multi-ticker, multi-report bias aggregation tool.

- Scans up to 49 tickers across 4 reports simultaneously
- Returns bullish/bearish/neutral bias per ticker per report
- Overall daily bias bar aggregates all signals: 65%+ green = bullish, 65%+ red = bearish, mixed = sit out
- Pre-built templates: Morning Trader, Daily Bias, End of Day, Custom
- Default template scans MAG 7 stocks (AAPL, MSFT, GOOG, AMZN, META, NVDA, TSLA) + SPY, QQQ, ES, NQ, YM, RTY

---

## Composite Trade Setups

Edgeful reports are designed to be combined for higher-conviction trades. example setups:

**Ultimate Bullish Setup:** combines inside bars (setup identification) + opening candle continuation (directional bias) + IB breakout (confirmation) + IB by retracement (entry at 25% pullback, stop at 50%). typical R:R: 3-5R. target: yesterday's high from inside bars report.

**Ultimate Reversal Setup (URS):** combines outside days + gap fill + ICT midnight open retracement. when price gaps outside multiple key levels simultaneously, expect mean-reversion back through those levels. entry via "by spike" subreport data for stop placement. targets: each level as price retraces through them.

**IB Breakout Setup:** wait for IB to form. first side that breaks determines bias. entry at 25% IB retracement. stop at 50% retracement. target 1: 0.5x IB extension. target 2: 1.0x extension. R:R: 3R+.

**ORB Setup:** similar to IB breakout but using first 15 minutes. entry at 25% ORB retracement. targets from ORB by levels (0.5x, 1.0x, 1.5x extensions).

**Multi-report confluence framework:** start with setup identification (inside bars, outside days) → add directional bias (OCC, IB, overnight continuation) → add entry timing (by retracement subreports) → add targets (by levels for breakouts, fill level for reversals) → add stop placement (by spike subreports). more aligned reports = higher conviction. when reports conflict, wait or sit out.
