- [Reviving the Armstrong Whitworth Part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/reviving-the-armstrong-whitworth-part-2/) - The ongoing work to revive the 1906 Armstrong Whitworth open tourer continues.
- [Workshop Diary March 2025 Part 1](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/workshop-diary-march-2025-part-1/) - This month there is so much content available that we’ll split the workshop diary into two posts – this being the first of those, and one that looks at the recent collections movements that have been carried out to relocate vehicles or free up access into buildings in order for maintenance work to be undertaken.
- [Sir Berkeley to make a return visit](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/sir-berkeley-to-make-a-return-visit/)
- [Workshop Diary March 2025 Part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/workshop-diary-march-2025-part-2/) - We continue our look at the restoration/maintenance activity around the transport collections in this second part of two (maybe even three!) posts for March 2025…
- [Reviving the Armstrong Whitworth Part 3](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/reviving-the-armstrong-whitworth-part-3/) - The revival of the Armstrong Whitworth has caused a great deal of interest at Beamish and readers may well have seen it appear on the museum’s social media, as well as it being due to feature in the Spring/Summer issue of the Beamish Magazine.
- [Workshop Diary March 2025 Part 3](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/workshop-diary-march-2025-part-3/) - For the final post of the three Workshop Diaries this month, we catch up on a few of the jobs not covered in detail elsewhere… There is quite a lot here so prepare yourselves for quite a long post!
- [Workshop Diary April 2025 Part 1](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/workshop-diary-april-2025-part-1/) - It is surprising (or maybe not!) just how quickly we get to Easter each year – traditionally the focal point for completing the winter maintenance activities and the start of the new season (in reality, this starts rather earlier – but it’s a useful target to aim for!).
- [Workshop Diary April 2025 Part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/workshop-diary-april-2025-part-2/) - This second instalment of April’s Workshop Diary contains some new threads, covering development work associated with Oporto 196, further signage developments and progress reports on Gateshead 10 and Weardale 909.
- [Railway 200 at Beamish 2025 – The Railway Attractions](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/railway-200-at-beamish-2025-the-railway-attractions/) - As we approach the Festival of Transport, a host of buses, road vehicles, road steam engines and railway locomotives are lined up to appear over the nine-day event, including a number from our own collections too (some not often seen in operation).
- [Transport & Engineering Diary May 2025 Part 1](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-may-2025-part-1/) - May is going to be another busy month! The notable occurrences are the re-commencement of operation at Rowley Station (24th May), and the Festival of Transport (24th May to 1st June).
- [Dunrobin – attention to detail…](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/dunrobin-attention-to-detail/) - As readers will know, Dunrobin’s restoration is being undertaken at the Severn Valley Railway’s engineering works at Bridgnorth, where exciting progress is being made towards completing this long-running project.
- [Festival of Transport – what to expect and a last-minute change](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/festival-of-transport-what-to-expect-and-a-last-minute-change/) - This post is a bit of an update on activities here ahead of re-starting the passenger trains at Rowley Station and welcoming several visiting muses to the museum over the weekend.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary May 2025 part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-may-2025-part-2/) - A shorter diary update this time, as there are several other posts appearing over the course of the next week or so.
- [Festival of Transport 2025 Part 1](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/festival-of-transport-2025-part-1/) - As part of the event coverage, here are some images taken on the Sat/Sun/Tues/Wed of the Festival of Transport (the second half will be covered in Part 2 next week).
- [Festival of Transport 2025 Part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/festival-of-transport-2025-part-2/) - Here is a second gallery of images taken over the last few days, showing (primarily) the narrow gauge operation, which featured visiting locomotives Velinheli and Sybil, alongside residents Samson and Glyder.
- [Steam Tram Locomotive visits Beamish](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/steam-tram-locomotive-visits-beamish/) - In connection with an event in July, we’ve brought in another visiting locomotive
- [Transport & Engineering Diary June 2025](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-june-2025/) - There is just the one post this month – there was plenty to report in May, and June has been a process of putting the event to bed (and sending back the visiting rolling stock and buses) as well as preparing for a visit from the Office of Rail and Road, who are carrying out an audit/inspection at the museum this month too.
- [Weardale 909 to enter service for school holidays](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/weardale-909-to-enter-service-for-school-holidays/) - After a period of commissioning, cosmetic attention and a re-upholstering, former Weardale Motor Services Leyland Titan PD2/1 KPT 909 has now been signed off for service at Beamish. Readers may recall that it came to the museum from the Science Museum Group, after a long period in their reserve collection at Wroughton.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary July 2025 Part 1](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-july-2025-part-1/) - There is a lot to report already this month, so we’ll split the output into two-parts, once again. In this post we catch up with some of the engineering work that has been taking place in the machine shop in recent weeks, largely on Gateshead 10 but also on a variety of other jobs too.
- [A healthy case of collections management…](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/a-healthy-case-of-collections-management/) - Whilst these pages are described as a blog, they usually contain news of restoration, repairs and events. I thought that, for a change, I might follow a more conventional blog format to discuss an area of museum activity that can often be a little tricky to navigate and certainly one where ‘hearts and minds’ can be an unusual consideration
- [Transport & Engineering Diary July 2025 Part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-july-2025-part-2/) - We round off July’s diary updates with more progress on Gateshead 10 and an exciting development on the Daimler CC lorry.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary August 2025](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-august-2025/) - This month has passed by in something of a blur, with lots happening, and therefore quite a bit to report. The separate post regarding the SHEW car will hopefully have kept readers interested, and there is a forthcoming article to come, with the newly acquired Dene motorcycles to be discussed…
- [1907 SHEW Car – coaxed back into life…](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/1907-shew-car-coaxed-back-into-life/) - In the programme of vehicle conservation and restoration, a number of key dates have been identified as being of significance to certain vehicles within the collection.
- [More on the SHEW car…](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/more-on-the-shew-car/) - After the triumph of seeing the SHEW car in operation, for the first in generations, a number of tasks have been attended to in order to develop its reliability and reduce its tendency to smoking and shedding petrol on the road.
- [‘Hot’ of the Press! Dunrobin’s boiler has a first fire lit…](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/hot-of-the-press-dunrobins-boiler-has-a-first-fire-lit/) - Dunrobin’s new dome components arrived recently at Bridgnorth, enabling the boiler reconstruction to be completed.
- [200 years to the day – 27th September 2025 transport activities at Beamish](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/200-years-to-the-day-27th-september-2025-transport-activities-at-beamish/) - The 27th September is an important day in the calendar for railway history, being 200 years, to the day, since the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1825.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary September 2025 Part 1](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-september-2025-part-1/) - For the first part of the month, here is a fleet/site round-up, to record progress on numerous vehicles. Readers will have noted the previous post with an update on Dunrobin’s boiler. The valve gear/motion for this locomotive is also largely complete and the hydraulic test for the boiler is booked for mid-October.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary September 2025 Part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-september-2025-part-2/) - The trams have seen a great deal of attention this month, with 114’s paintwork being brought closer to completion, Gateshead 10’s truck assembly continuing, Blackpool 31’s bogie repairs underway and Lisbon 730’s detailed inspection continuing.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary October 2025 Part 1](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-october-2025-part-1/) - October is proving to be as busy as every other month has been, with lots of news from the team as activity in various areas and on various projects continues at a brisk pace. As usual, we will split the activity into fortnightly reports. Here is Part 1.
- [Dunrobin – Autumn 2025 update](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/dunrobin-autumn-2025-update/) - I thought that an update on progress with the restoration of 4085 Dunrobin was timely, with the locomotive having had its hydraulic boiler test this week, and progress made on other fronts too.
- [Coffee Pot No.1 heads to North Tyneside](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/coffee-pot-no-1-heads-to-north-tyneside/) - Coffee Pot was a last minute addition to the Stephenson Steam Railway Railway 200 event over the weekend of the 25/26th October. This visit took it the furthest north that it has ever been and a chaldron waggon accompanied it in order that it could make demonstration runs in the yard, alongside the passenger and various goods/coal trains that were being operated along the railway.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary October 2025 Part 2](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-october-2025-part-2/) - Looking back at the folder for ‘October blog images’ I was surprised to see just how many photos there were in it! It has certainly been a busy month with lots to see, and one that the weather has certainly helped – the short days of winter are perhaps less photogenic and the work undertaken tends to be more routine.
- [Transport & Engineering Diary November 2025](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/transport-engineering-diary-november-2025/) - The aim of this project is to create an additional passenger carrying vehicle for use on Beamish Museum’s Pockerley Waggonway.
- [Darlington Corporation Bus Shelter Part 5](https://www.beamish.org.uk/news/darlington-corporation-bus-shelter-part-5/) - The aim of this project is to create an additional passenger carrying vehicle for use on Beamish Museum’s Pockerley Waggonway.
