Your daily care routine should be consistent, as consistency is KEY! Developing a hair care routine for your animal is significant because healthy hair leads to your animal looking the best they can on show day. - [Where should I even start once my animal is in the chute? | Tips from Stock Show University®](https://www.sullivansupply.com/where-should-i-even-start-once-my-animal-is-in-the-chute-tips-from-stock-show-university/): It is show day with your steer or heifer and your anticipation is high to get in the show ring. When getting your animal ready for the ring, it is important you get your animal presented to the best of your ability, so your animal can look its very best for the judge. Once your clean and dry animal is in the chute, it is time to start fitting. One piece of advice that Sullivan Supply recommends is that you lay out all the products you will be using before you start fitting, so you can just grab them from around your chute versus having to go back and forth to your show box—along with making sure your power source is working for clipper, blowers, etc.  One of the first things that you need to do when your animal gets in the chute is to blow your animal out and work the leg hair with a Sullivan's Roto Brush or Sullivan’s Scrub Brush. This will help lift your animal’s leg hair follicle, making it easier to fit. Before you start fitting, it is recommended to put on the animal’s show halter first, so you are not rushed at the end to put the halter on. Once you have the show halter on with your rope halter over it, you can start fitting the legs. (This is just a reminder that you should only be fitting with metal combs, as we recommend the Sullivan’s Teflon Comb line. Plastic smart combs are only to be used during daily care routines.) You may also put a tail bag over your animal’s tail to ensure that no adhesive gets in the tail while you are fitting the legs or the flank.  After the legs, you can start fitting the tailhead, topline, belly line and flank, and then last but not least—the tail. You want to make sure to fit the tail last, as your animal might get antsy in the chute and start switching their tail during fitting. After everything is fit and the adhesive is dry, it is now time to apply the touch-up paint. After your animal is fit, take some time at the end to work the animal’s body hair with a blower, plastic smart comb, and a Sullivan Supply’s show sheen or oil. - [THE “WHY” OF FRESH & FEMININE | TIPS FROM STOCK SHOW UNIVERSITY®](https://www.sullivansupply.com/the-why-of-fresh-feminine-tips-from-stock-show-university/): A question that is frequently asked during Stock Show University® events is why would someone need to feed Sullivan’s Fresh & Feminine to their show animal. In order to have your calf fit to perfection for the show ring, you need your animal’s hair looking flawless. Even though you are not putting adhesive in the body hair, the areas of the legs, flank, belly, and tailhead will be areas where adhesives can be used. - [Black Powder’ful | Tips from Stock Show University®](https://www.sullivansupply.com/black-powderful-tips-from-stock-show-university/): For more tips and video tutorials from Stock Show University®, visit https://www.sullivansupply.com/stock-show-u/online/ - [Step 1: Setting Goals | Tips from Stock Show University®](https://www.sullivansupply.com/step-1-setting-goals-tips-from-stock-show-university/): Whether you have exhibited livestock for years or you are just a beginner, working towards some type of goal in the show barn is an excellent idea to stay motivated and achieve greatness. For a beginner, you might have the goal of winning showmanship at your local county fair. Once you have been in the project for more years, you might add the goal of exhibiting at a Junior National Heifer Show or making the Sale of Champions. After this or when your time expires in the show ring as a junior, you might have the goal of starting your own herd and raising livestock for junior exhibitors.  - [Choosing The RIGHT Whip | Tips from Stock Show University®](https://www.sullivansupply.com/choosing-the-right-whip-tips-from-stock-show-university/): Whips come in many styles, simply because every pig is different. It is essential to practice with different types of whips to see how each pig reacts, just let test-driving a vehicle before you buy it. What is perfect for one pig might turn into a failure for another. It is likely that you will need a different whip for each pig that is in your show barn. When training at home before the show, be calm and patient, learning the tendencies of each animal. Initially, the pig will respond best to a stiff whip rather than a soft, high flexing whip. A higher flex whip can be used as the animal progresses and is more trained. Most hog exhibitors prefer a high flexing whip, as it allows the popper to swing under the jaw to keep the head up and alert. - [Creating a Perfect Tailhead | Tips From Stock Show University](https://www.sullivansupply.com/creating-a-perfect-tailhead-tips-from-stock-show-university/): It is show day, and you were just informed that you are in charge of fitting a calf’s tailhead. This properly balanced pH formula prevents heavy, oily residues and will not create heat. Contains the Sullivan’s VITA HAIR™ nourishing vitamin package. The FIRST of its kind! Vita Hair VolumizerTM Foaming Shampoo is formulated with a natural plant-based proprietary surfactant technology which creates an opposite acting polar electrical charge within each hair strand that actually pushes every hair follicle apart. This prevents the hair from sticking together, and actually springs it loose, making each hair follicle stand on end for a noticeable difference in hair volume and body. This, never before offered, exclusive chemistry for livestock consists of chemically altered ions. Ions are small electrical molecules within surfactants that usually have positive or negative charges which create an attraction to each other. In livestock hair, this attraction causes hair follicles to stick to each other. The non-ionic chemistry of Vita Hair VolumizerTM inhibits an unusual neutral charge to the ionic molecule of each follicle creating no attraction or pull between the hair strands. This neutral charge actually enables each hair follicle to stand free for extreme hair separation. All this with a plant based neutral pH makes it gentle and nourishing to the hide and hair as it gently cleans deep, down to the roots of each hair follicle. Fortified with Sullivan’s VITA HAIRTM a nourishing vitamin package to boost hair and skin health without added weight to hair. Designed to be used in a foamer. - [Oklahoma Youth Expo | Horned Herefords – Division VII](https://www.sullivansupply.com/oklahoma-youth-expo-horned-herefords-division-vii/): Division VII Champion Sire: CRR ABOUT TIME 743 Dam: JCS TATER TOT 3560 Bred by: McKay Cattle Co Congratulations to Evan Sims Division VII Reserve Sire: ECR GENETIC FLOW 4368 ET Dam: ECR AJ MISS TURBO 4095 Bred by: Jason May Congratulations to Lexi Vinson - [C&C Clear Vision Spring Online Sale | CLOSES TONIGHT](https://www.sullivansupply.com/cc-clear-vision-spring-online-sale-closes-tonight/): Sale Link: Click Here - [Hensley Brothers and Simmons Cattle Co Online Sale | CLOSES TONIGHT](https://www.sullivansupply.com/hensley-brothers-and-simmons-cattle-co-online-sale-closes-tonight/): Sale closes tonight on SC.
