# Pastmaps

> Pastmaps is a historical map exploration platform with 185,000+ georeferenced USGS topographic maps spanning 200+ years of American history.

Pastmaps lets users search any U.S. location and explore high-resolution historical maps overlaid on modern satellite imagery. Users can fade between past and present using an opacity slider, view terrain in 3D, and toggle satellite and LiDAR layers to see how landscapes have changed over time.

The maps are sourced from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Library of Congress, georeferenced to align precisely with modern coordinates. Every map is available as a high-resolution download, and museum-quality framed prints can be ordered starting at $29.
