> Aavegotchi is a DeFi-enabled NFT gaming protocol where players collect, stake, and battle pixelated ghost avatars (Aavegotchis) backed by Aave interest-bearing aTokens. Governed by AavegotchiDAO via the GHST token. Developed by Pixelcraft Studios (Singapore). Not affiliated with or created by the Aave Protocol team.

## What is Aavegotchi?

Aavegotchis are pixelated ghost NFTs (ERC-721) living on the Base blockchain. Each Aavegotchi holds an escrow of Aave-backed aTokens ("Spirit Force") that generate yield over time. Their value comes from:

1. **Collateral stake** — aTokens locked in the Aavegotchi's escrow, generating Aave lending yield
2. **Traits** — randomly assigned at birth via Chainlink VRF; distributed on a bell curve (Common → Mythical)
3. **Wearables** — equippable NFTs (ERC-998 composable) that modify traits and rarity
4. **Kinship** — starts at 50, increases with owner interaction
5. **Experience (XP)** — gained from DAO voting, minigames; every 3 levels grants a Spirit Point for trait adjustment

Rarity is dynamic — it changes as Aavegotchis level up and the overall trait distribution shifts. This enables "rarity farming," where the rarest Aavegotchis earn GHST rewards.

Players summon Aavegotchis through Portals, which reveal 10 random options to choose from.

### Who Created Aavegotchi?

Pixelcraft Studios, a Singapore-based game studio. Initially funded by a grant from AaveDAO (hence the "Aave" in the name). It is an independent project with separate governance, development, and treasury from Aave Protocol.

## Gotchiverse (Metaverse)

The Gotchiverse is Aavegotchi's virtual world with three zones:

- **Citaadel** — protected home base; no lickquidator towers allowed
- **Grid** — open land with lickquidator threats; supports walls and towers
- **Beyond** — locked parcels for future expansion

REALM parcels come in three sizes. Owners can build Installations (harvesters, reservoirs, etc.) and Tiles. Parcels generate Alchemica tokens (FUD, FOMO, ALPHA, KEK) that can be harvested.
